We read hundreds of Google reviews of laundries in Phu Quoc. Travellers rarely complain about the price. The complaints that hurt are different: "I asked them to keep the whites separate and they didn't", "my shirt shrank", "a new top bled onto everything". Most of these start the same way: the instruction never really reached the person doing the washing.
Why instructions get lost
- Language. You explain in English, someone at the counter nods, and the note that reaches the machine is a word or two in Vietnamese, or nothing.
- Said once, never written. A request mentioned at the counter has to survive a busy evening and a change of staff. If it isn't written down, it often doesn't.
- New clothes from the market. Bright, cheap fabrics bought this week are the ones most likely to bleed in their first wash.
Before you hand over the bag
- Keep out "dry clean only" pieces. A wash-and-dry shop washes in water.
- Put brand-new coloured clothes in their own small bag and say so.
- Take a quick photo of the bag (and of anything you care about) when you hand it over. It takes ten seconds.
Say it in Vietnamese
Write each request on its own line. Short beats polite here. Show this to the staff or paste it into your chat:
| You want | Vietnamese |
|---|---|
| Wash whites separately | Giặt riêng đồ trắng |
| Wash kids' clothes separately | Giặt riêng đồ trẻ em |
| Cold water | Giặt nước lạnh |
| No ironing | Không ủi |
| Please put everything back in my bag | Để đồ vào lại túi của tôi |
| Please send me a photo of the scale | Gửi tôi ảnh cân nhé |
Then ask them to repeat it back. If what comes back doesn't match what you meant, fix it before the clothes go in, not when they come out.
Know what a shop doesn't do
Ask before you assume. Many wash-and-dry shops don't do stain removal, and some charge extra for separating loads or ironing. Better to hear "no" or a price at drop-off than to discover it at pickup.
How NightGo handles your instructions
- Write in your own language (English, 中文, 한국어, Русский or Tiếng Việt). Our assistant reads every point back to you. Reply OK, and only then does it go to the shop in Vietnamese.
- Your order gets its own washer and its own dryer, even a small bag. LG Commercial 13 kg washers, LG's line built for laundries.
- Want your own whites and colours split further? That's 60,000₫ for each extra machine. The shop messages you the price first and only goes ahead once you agree.
- What we don't do, we say up front: we don't do stain removal, and we don't dry clean. Ironing is possible on request; the shop messages you the fee first.
- Wash, tumble dry and fold: 45,000₫ per kg (about US$1.75), ready in 3–4 hours. Express 55,000₫/kg (about US$2.15), ready in 1–2 hours. Under 3 kg, a flat 130,000₫. Open 24/7 at Alley 124 Tran Hung Dao, Duong Dong. Pickup and delivery 8am–10pm, from 50,000₫ per order, quoted for your address before we come.
FAQ
Can I write my instructions in English? Yes. Write them in English, 中文, 한국어, Русский or Tiếng Việt. We repeat them back for you to confirm, then pass them on in Vietnamese.
Will my whites be washed with my coloured clothes? Without a note, everything in your order goes into one machine together (your own, not shared). If you want them split, it's 60,000₫ per extra machine, quoted before we start.
Can you remove a stain? No, we don't do stain removal. Items get a normal wash. You can still point out the stain in your note.
