November to April is the best time to snorkel and dive in Phu Quoc, with calm water and clear visibility around the southern islands off An Thoi. A full-day boat trip is one of the highlights of the island. It also produces the worst bag of laundry of your holiday.

What to wear on the boat

  • A swimsuit plus a long-sleeve rash guard: the sun on the water is strong and you'll float face down for an hour.
  • Light shorts or a cover-up for the boat and lunch stop.
  • A quick-dry towel; boat towels run out.
  • A dry bag or zip bag for your phone and a change of clothes.

Why salt water is hard on clothes

Seawater dries into salt that stiffens fabric and fades colours, and sand works into seams and elastic. Left in a bag in the heat, salty, damp swimwear and towels start to smell within a day.

What to do the evening you get back

  1. Rinse swimwear and rash guards in fresh water straight away, even just in the shower.
  2. Shake out sand outside the room, not on the bed.
  3. Hang everything in the air-conditioned room, never in a closed bag.
  4. If you're moving on the next day or it's the rainy season and nothing dries, send the whole pile out.

Sending it out

NightGo Laundry in Duong Dong washes, tumble dries and folds for 45,000₫ per kg (about US$1.75), ready in 3–4 hours; express is 55,000₫/kg in 1–2 hours. The shop is open 24/7, so you can drop off a sandy bag after a late boat. Hotel pickup and delivery runs 8am–10pm from 50,000₫ per order; we tell you the fee for your hotel before we come. Ask in the note if you want swimwear washed separately. Each extra machine for splitting your clothes is 60,000₫; we message you the price first and only go ahead once you agree.
