Paying by the kilo is the fairest way to wash holiday clothes, much cheaper than a hotel's per-item list. But it only works if three things are right: the weight, the extras, and the change you get back. In laundry reviews, "the price at pickup was different from what they told me" comes up again and again.

1. The weight: are you paying for water?

Beach holidays produce wet laundry: swimwear, rash guards, beach towels, a shirt caught in the rain. Wet fabric is heavy, and a scale can't tell clothes from water.

A rough illustration: a bag that would weigh 3 kg dry picks up 1 kg of water from a couple of damp towels and swimsuits. At 45,000₫ per kg, that's 45,000₫ paid for water.

What to do:

  • Wring out and hang swimwear for a few hours before you hand it over.
  • Ask the shop: "Do you weigh it dry or wet?"
  • If they weigh at drop-off, ask to see the number then, not at pickup.

2. The extras: what wasn't mentioned

The kilo price is rarely the problem. The surprises are the add-ons nobody said out loud: delivery, separate machines for whites, ironing. Before you leave the bag, ask for the formula: kilos × price, plus what else? Anything not in that sentence shouldn't appear on the bill.

3. The number on the scale vs the number on the sign

Travellers have reported a price on the scale display that didn't match the price on the shop sign. Get the total in writing: a chat message with the weight, the rate and the total is worth more than a receipt in a language you can't read.

4. The change

Cash is where most disputes happen. 50,000₫ and 500,000₫ notes differ by one zero, and the blue 20,000₫ and 500,000₫ notes look alike. Hand over small notes, count your change on the spot, or pay the exact total by bank transfer. More cash tips in Phu Quoc night market tips.

How NightGo keeps the bill the same

At NightGo the price doesn't sit on a sign you have to interpret. The shop messages it to you directly, in your chat, before you pay.

  • Your quote comes as a message: a photo of the scale, the weight, the rate and the total. No need to ask for it.
  • We weigh your clothes dry. Dry clothes are weighed before washing. Wet ones are washed and dried first, then weighed, so you never pay for water.
  • Fixed prices: wash, tumble dry and fold for 45,000₫ per kg (about US$1.75), ready in 3–4 hours; express 55,000₫ per kg (about US$2.15), ready in 1–2 hours; orders under 3 kg are a flat 130,000₫.
  • The formula is the whole bill: kilos × rate (or a flat 130,000₫ under 3 kg), plus the pickup and delivery fee if you used it: from 50,000₫, both ways, quoted for your address before we come.
  • Anything optional is messaged first. Splitting your own clothes across machines (60,000₫ per extra machine) or ironing: the shop sends you the price, and does it only after you say yes.
  • Pay when your clothes come back, cash or bank transfer.

FAQ

My swimwear is still wet. Will I pay for the water? Not at NightGo. Wet items are washed and dried first and weighed after, when they're dry.

When do I find out the total? Before you pay. We send a photo of the scale and the total to your chat.

Can anything be added to the bill without asking me? No. If something optional comes up, like ironing or an extra machine, the shop messages you the price first and only goes ahead once you agree.
